A white tailed deer fawn takes a moment to study me as I walked along the nature trail at the Trexler Nature Preserve. Deer are abundant in the preserve, but not often seen during the daylight hours. This one seemed curious and continued feeding on the grass while keeping an eye on the strange photographer.

A young deer with white spots stands amidst tall grass and forest underbrush, looking directly at the camera with a backdrop of leafless tree branches.
