Blue Heron and Yellow Lilies Close Up

A blue heron scouts out the Little Lehigh Creek for a meal. Perched on a fallen tree limb and backdropped by the deep green of August foliage and yellow lilies, he flew around the area for a short while before we left it to itself. This image was shot in Allentown's Lehigh Parkway.
Herons are quite common in our area, but I don’t normally see them until the dusk hours when the light is poor. It was a treat to photograph one with some good light, especially one as patient as this bird seemed to be with me.
