A blue heron waits along the edges of the Jordan Creek in Pennsylvania's Lehigh County. Red Autumn leaves cover the ground and the surrounding hillsides of this vivid scene. This image was captured while hiking back to my car after a very fruitful morning of photography inside the Trexler Nature Preserve. Herons are wonderful creatures to photograph. They stay very still and are not easily spooked so long as you keep your distance. The contrast in this scene was impossible to miss.
